Mu Alpha Theta is a National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society. As of June 2014, Mu Alpha Theta had 105,000 student members in more than 2,100 schools nationwide. In order to be involved in St. Joseph’s chapter of Mu Alpha Theta, students must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0, a mathematics GPA of 3.5, and have completed Algebra II. The goal of Mu Alpha Theta is to instill a keen interest in mathematics in students and to promote the enjoyment of mathematics. St. Joseph’s chapter of Mu Alpha Theta strives to uphold these standards in our school and community.
Mu Alpha Theta will sponsor math tutoring for all St. Joseph students every Thursday from 3-4pm in Mrs. Webb’s room. Members of the organization will be available to tutor students in all math courses.
Meetings will be held during lunch on the 2nd Wednesday of every month in Mrs. Webb’s room. Each member is required to tutor during one after school tutoring session per month.
If you are interested in becoming a member of Mu Alpha Theta, please go to www.tinyurl.com/webbmathapplication to fill out an application. All applications are due by Friday, August 19, 2016.
