Our students are required to complete 18 service hours each year. Service categories are school, church and community, wherein a minimum of 4 hours must be completed in each category. Also, no more than half of a student’s yearly requirement can be earned from one project.
There are always opportunities for service projects, especially in the summer, through many non-profit organizations in our community. Any hours earned/worked during the summer will be applied to the 2016-17 school year:
- During the week of June 12, students are needed to remove chairs and furniture from the CCD rooms at St. Joseph Catholic Church and to clean the chairs and furniture. This would probably be about 4 hours depending on how many kids we have. The day they can come is flexible – whatever works for the most kids (church). Contact Matt Nadalin to sign up at (304) 525-5202.
- During the week of June 13, students are needed to help with Vacation Bible School (church). Contact Mrs. Messinger to sign up – email@example.com
- During the week of June 27, we will be painting the three CCD rooms at St. Joseph Catholic Church. This would probably be over a few days, so we could use multiple kids. We’d be starting on Monday of that week. This will most likely be an all-day project for at least two (maybe three) days. These students could also bring all the chairs and furniture and such back to the CCD rooms (church). Contact Matt Nadalin to sign up at (304) 525-5202.
