Biography: Ms. Acord was raised in Glen Daniel, West Virginia, a small town 12 miles outside of Beckley.  After high school, she attended Marshall University where she received her B.A. in history with minors in political science and psychology graduating Magna Cum Laude.  In 2002, she completed her M.A. in history from Marshall University Graduate School where she had been the Blake Scholar and a Graduate Assistant in the history department.  Following graduation she was a part-time history professor for Marshall University, and also worked as a reference assistant for the Drinko Library teaching University 101 classes for library research.  Ms. Acord has two daughters together, Lena and Ellie.  She took time off from teaching to take care of her daughters, but when they both were in school she began substitute teaching for Grace Christian until she was employed by Marshall’s CCHS program as an Adjunct Professor of History.  Before beginning her full-time teaching career at St. Joseph’s, Ms. Acord taught Honors History to our 11th and 12th grade students.  Outside the classroom Ms. Acord enjoys spending time with her girls, especially participating in H.A.R.T. productions at the Ritter Park Outdoor Amphitheater.  She is the teacher advisor for our Pro-Life Ministry club.
