2017 Graduate is Capitol Hill Summer Intern


Phoenix Huron is a 2017 graduate of St. Joseph Central Catholic High School in Huntington, WV and currently studies politics and government, and urban studies at Ohio Wesleyan University (OWU), in Deleware, Ohio.  Phoenix is a student board member of the Politics and Government Department of OWU, a senator in student government, and the risk manager and resident assistant of OWU’s chapter of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.

This summer, Huron is a 2019 Capital Hill summer intern for West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin.  Huron’s responsibilities include attending hearings and meetings that involve Senator Manchin, working with the appropriations team on the upcoming 2020 appropriations bill, conducting research on the King Coal Highway, conducting Capital tours for the Senator’s constituents, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Senator’s office.

Huron is an OWU Politics and Government Department honors candidate and is currently working on his senior dissertation, entitled “Urban Happiness and Urban Walkability: Why the relationship between the two is important, and how it has already been forged.”

Phoenix is a candidate for graduation in May of 2020 from Ohio Wesleyan University and has applied for departmental honors.
