Book Exchange Program

Dear Parents:

As you know, parents are responsible for purchasing textbooks for each class their student takes.  Textbooks can be costly, and the book company normally offers only a small refund for the return of used books.  To help defray your costs, the school has instituted a voluntary book exchange program.  You will be given the opportunity to sign up for the program at registration. A complete list of the textbooks your student will need and how to purchase them can be found on this website.

The program is simple.  We can provide some books for your student to use for the school year.  Any books handed out in the book exchange program must be returned at the end of the school year.  Students will be required to pay for lost or badly treated books, and failure to do so will make them ineligible to participate in the book exchange in future years.

Student schedules are sent out in late June.  If you opt to participate in the book exchange program, it will include the list of books available for your student through the exchange.  You will need to purchase the remaining texts before the beginning of the academic year.  It is likely that there will not be enough books of all subjects for each registered student.  In addition, some books will be new for the coming year and therefore will not be available in the exchange.

In subsequent years, any books you purchase and then donate to the exchange will ensure you a book of similar value for the next school year, ahead of those who have not donated books.  This program only works if students continue to donate their used books in exchange for the next year’s books.

Please note that no one is guaranteed or promised free books in the exchange and that parents are ultimately responsible for the purchase of all textbooks.  But participating in the exchange has helped to greatly decrease this expense over the course of a student’s high school career.  The exchange program is entirely optional, and parents may opt to purchase all books directly.
