St. Joe 10th grader wins Young People’s Concert Competition

HUNTINGTON – The Woman’s Club of Huntington sponsored the 57th Young People’s Concert Open Competition for Soloist in cooperation with the Music Department of Marshall University on Jan. 7.

The winner was Armaan K., a 10th-grade student from St. Joseph High School, who played Clarinet Concerto in E Flat by Weber and Merivan, and was accompanied by Lara Donahoe. He will receive a $150 award from The Woman’s Club of Huntington and the honor of playing with the Marshall University Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Reed Smith, according to a news release.

Armaan will perform for the Young People’s Concert at 10 a.m. March 6 at the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center. Fifth-grade students from Cabell and Wayne counties, private schools and home-schooled students are invited to attend.
